I am sorry it took me over 6 months to write again. Things have been busy and a lot of things have changed. One of them, my country! I am currently living in American 'til December and I would like to share a little about this amazing experience I am having here.
It is no secret that when you give the best part of yourself on something, you should expect the best
results. But what makes me glad is to realize that sometimes, the result can be even better than you had
planned and it might come faster than you thought: Moving to America’s capital for one semester, for
example.
I remember the first time I heard about The Washington Center and how excited I was about the opportunity of not only improving academic and professional skills but also my knowledge about myself and other individuals. It would be a lifetime experience and I could not let it go.
I knew there would be a process in order to be accepted for the program, especially because best things in life come with a certain level of work, so that you can add value to it. So I applied for Ford Motor Global Scholars Scholarship but I had no idea I would be chosen in the first try. I bet you at some point in your life already had phrases such as: “It’ll never work”, “I will never be chosen” or “I don’t have enough” crossing your mind but guess what? Things do work. You can be chosen and to have the desire of achieving your goal is most of the time, enough!
Things happened so fast. TWC’s team has been amazing in making sure final steps of acceptance process would be very smooth and I am glad I could always count on their support.
So here I am, 2 weeks away from moving to one of the most important cities of the world because someone has seen potential in me. So if someone believed in me, someone else can also do the same for you!
I like the picture above because it reminds us that even the greatest buildings start from the ground. So do not be afraid. If you have the desire of pursuing what it is good for you, whether educational, professional or personal, you will get there at some point.
Believe in yourself and someday someone(or TWC) will help you to reach your dreams.
Best,
Lukas
